Moving Forward

by Emilee Blackburn

First, from Our Family to you, Thank you!

March 2017 – By now, most of you know our story and the challenges we have faced to bring us to where we are today. Losing Tatum two years ago was the most difficult thing we have ever experienced. Not a day goes by that we don’t think about her and question why we can’t have our daughter with us. Whether you have experienced child loss, or know someone who has, we can agree that as parents we are not equipped to lose a child.

So, how do we move forward?

The path to the answer is different for everyone, but the answer we seek is HOPE.
HOPE is the unwavering confidence that we will see our beautiful girl one day.
HOPE is the expectation set upon oneself after meeting others who have found the strength to move forward.
HOPE is the optimism that tomorrow will be better than today.
We all HOPE that you will never forget our little ones.

On March 6th, 2017, Tatum’s Love Foundation held its 2nd Annual Tee It Up for Tatum golf tournament at Twin Creeks Country Club benefiting the Healing Hearts Program at The Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Texas. The event was full of Hope, Joy and a tremendous amount of Love.

This year’s event brought Joy in honoring and remembering not only Tatum, but other babies as well. On each hole during the tournament, an honorary flag was placed to remember babies that are no longer with us. The families were able to come out the day before the tournament and place them on the holes themselves. Celebrating their spirit and honoring each one of them brought Joy and peace to these wonderful families. Their Legacies will forever live through their parents. The weather was perfect with a beautiful sunset that evening.

On the day of the tournament, you could feel all the Love from our supporters. Each person that was there to support our cause made it a memorable and impactful event. We could not hug and thank everyone enough for everything they have done to help make this event amazing and help support many other families.

Once the golfers headed out for the start of the tournament, they were able to enjoy some good laughs on our Heckler Hole.  The Heckler Hole was a new addition to Tee It Up for Tatum with some of our comedic Broad-Sarcasters Team taking the traditional “Quiet Please” to whole new level. The Bubba Hole offered some memorable pictures as expected and throughout the day the golfers also enjoyed wonderful food and beverages. Congratulations to this year’s Winners Mike Caputo, Raul Campa, Pat O’Brien and Steve Hagan.

For everyone to come together to celebrate and remember our little ones is what it was all about. We know deep in our hearts that they were all looking down on us, proud!

Please take a moment to return to our 2017 Memories Page and look at the pictures from the day’s event as well the our Sponsors. This event could not happen without them! It captures so many beautiful moments full of so much Love, Joy and Fun!!!!! Hope to see everyone next year!
